I spent a lot of my teen years and early twenties getting away to this area with friends and family for day and weekend trips; while touristy, it still has so much natural beauty and charm that you can't help but relax and enjoy it all:)

The prolific photography of Jim Zuckerman...this series is from Ireland:)
Howard Schatz

Howard Schatz is great at all he photographs but it is his underwater work which I find the most interesting.

A passionate stumbler who has some gorgeous images on his pages (this one is not technically the best, I just liked it). He's intense, sincere and visually appealing on many fronts; with some great music too. Thank you for this photo, Silenus3milenio:)

Children are God's most precious gift (I know, some of them turn out horrible only to make the world less pleasant)while I've had an interesting life, traveled a lot and met many people..none of it compared to the privilege I felt to be blessed by the presence of the delightful creature my son was. From when he kicked in a cha-cha manner in my womb to the sweet, loving, funny, intelligent, mischievous, zany and extraordinary boy(yeah, I know, all parents think their kids are a phenomena, I'm no exception)to the fine young man he has become. I've always loved children and nothing pleased me more than filling the house up with kids or piling them in the car for a beach or park outing...There will probably be more photos in the future, I think they are God's best work perhaps a gift of love and hope. Parents will probably acknowledge that nothing is more of a lesson in patience than being a parent...more on that later...

When I saw this photo of the little ballerinas, I immediately recalled Maurice Chevalier's version of "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" which was part of the movie "GiGi" soundtrack. It was a little before my time but my best friend, Laurel's mom always played the record on Saturdays when we were kids.
"Thank heaven for little GIRLS..."

"for little girls get..."

"...bigger everyday...Thank heaven for little girls..."

"They grow up in the most delightful way...Thank heaven for little girls..."

"...for without them what would little boys do!..."

"...Thank heaven ..."

I hear babies cry
I watch them grow
They'll learn much more
Than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself

VIRGIL ELLIOTT

From the page:
"...Profoundly moved by the works of the Old Masters, particularly Rembrandt and Vermeer, Elliott was dissatisfied with his own abilities, and sought to learn still more. Quickly becoming disillusioned with college-level art instruction at the colleges and universities he attended for several years following his discharge from the Army, due to their emphasis on "modern" styles which did not interest him, he endeavored to teach himself from that point onward. His quest for knowledge drove him to search out old manuscripts to study, and to travel far and wide to view the Old Master paintings wherever they might be found, in addition to constant ongoing practice drawing and painting. Several years as a freelance commercial artist helped to hone his talents, and in 1982 he felt he was ready to begin his career in fine art..."
